It's a fact universally acknowledged that I love television. There's just something incredibly engaging about the medium. At different points in my life I have come across or gone back to certain television shows that have the uncanny ability to make me feel better.
With this in mind, it seems that now is the perfect time to share some recommendations in order to help my family, friends and followers get through this trying time. So, I've compiled a list of 10 must watch tv shows to help you through isolation.
10. Mad Men (2007 - 2015)

Smart, at times funny and packed full of drama, Mad Men could well and truly be one of the best television series of all time. With seven complete seasons to its name, Mad Men is the perfect show to binge.
The audience will find themselves invested in the characters, no matter how questionable their actions can be. At times complex, this series is a fascinating and nostalgic look into the advertising world.
This series launched stars like Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss into the stratosphere and it's not hard to see why. With award winning dramatic performances Mad Men will have you on your toes from the word go.
9. Parenthood (2010 - 2015)

I am the first to admit that I only sampled this show because my beloved Lauren Graham was starring in it. However, I stayed on for six seasons because I really hadn't seen a show like it. In fact, not even This Is Us can compete.
Focused on the Braverman family, Parenthood is a tv show that is centred around exploring the dynamic of one family. Following the matriarch and patriarch, their children and their families, Parenthood is a messy, emotional and all too real look into family life.
With dramatic twists and turns aplenty, this series manages to maintain its quality throughout its entire six season run. There will be tears and laughter, yet there will also be comfort in knowing that everyone's family is a little crazy.
8. The Golden Girls (1985 -1992)

How to explain The Golden Girls and also do it justice is a question I have been pondering for a few days. To say it's a comedy would be an understatement. To say that there has never been a show like it also doesn't do it justice. So, I think I just may have to say that this is one of the best television shows of all time.
Whether it's Rose being silly, Blanche being promiscuous, Dorothy being bossy or Sophia being a comedic knock out, each 'Golden Girl' draws you in. Spanning seven seasons, earning multiple award nominations and wins, an episode of the Golden Girls is soul cleansing and laugh out loud funny, even if some of the references do go over your head.
7. The Crown (2016 - present)

There is just something about The Crown that makes it one of the best shows in recent history. Obviously this program will take a look into the fabulous Queen Elizabeth II and the lives of her nearest and dearest, however, audiences could never have expected just how far the series creators would go.
The sets are extravagant. The costumes are fabulous and the acting is quite simply world class. The modern world is full of people who would love to see the monarchy come crumbling down. However, one episode of The Crown is enough to change that.
This Netflix series chronicles the life of Elizabeth as she grapples with her Uncle's decision to abdicate and therefore the life she has been forced to lead. While the Queen we know today is stoic and guarded, this series really peels back the layers of some of the Windsor's most scandalous moments as well as things we never could of dreamed of.
6. The Office (2005 - 2013)

The US version of The Office is the only version of this sitcom I choose to acknowledge, simply because it is that good. Whether it is the inappropriate humour, the misadventures of Michael Scott or the blossoming love story of Jim and Pam, the US Office has something for everyone.
While outrageously funny, the thing I like most about The Office is Jim and Pam. Their love story is the one constant throughout the nine season run of the program. There are ups and downs however it's a love story for the ages.
I also feel that the love the audience has for Jim and Pam spills over for all their colleagues, which brings us back episode after episode to laugh at them and with them. The Office makes us laugh out loud but also care for people whom we've never met. With short episodes and punchy dialogue, this is the perfect show to binge watch.
